Preventing Suicide among the youth, especially in the Nigerian tertiary institutions.

The 1st Annual Proud African Youth Conference is a part of the initiative of The Great Help Alive International Initiative. The Proud African Youth Conference is being used as a platform to educate and prevent suicide among the youths especially in the Nigerian tertiary institution.
The recent spate of suicides in Nigeria, especially among the students in Nigerian tertiary institutions and across the world as become worrisome and the statistics are frightening thus becoming a recurring source of concern for all stakeholders in Nation Building and Youth Development. In the recent campus tour of The Great Help Alive International Initiative interviews with Nigerian tertiary institution students indicates that, students are quite aware of the causes of Suicide on different campuses in Nigeria and are hopeful that a quick intervention may be engineered to bring the ugly trend of suicide to its barest minimum by programs such as this PAY Conference 2019.
The Great Help Alive International Initiative have also uncovered startling projections that depression caused by family backgrounds, lack of funds, low grades, pressures from school environment, harassment from the lecturers, lack of food, societal pressures, lack of guardians and counseling amongst others are largely some of the reasons students and young persons commit suicide.
The Great Help Alive International Initiative is about encouraging, motivating, empowering and challenging thousands of youth to be more focus to see the beautiful part of life than the ugly side of it, so as to make them believe in themselves and the society at large.
Opportunity will be given to some students to become part of Proud African Youth Campus Volunteers (PAY Campus Volunteers) under The Great Help Alive International Initiative. This gives access to mentorship, training, and affordable finance to student in need.
This year’s edition is themed; “Nigerian Youth Suicide Prevention”.
The PAY Conference will take place on Saturday, 2nd November 2019 at The ETF lecture hall (right wing) University of Abuja Main Campus, Airport Road, Abuja.
