An Abuja-based lawyer, Pelumi Olajengbesi, has been cleared by the 2022 Electoral Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation to run for the Executive Committee Membership position at the NFF elections slated to hold Friday, September 30, in Benin City, Edo State.
Before his clearance, Olajengbesi and 44 others were screened earlier at the Chida Hotel in Utako, Abuja, from September 9 to 11.
Releasing the result of the screening exercise on Monday, the Chairman of the Committee, Aikhunegbe Malik; and his Secretary, Mohammed Sanusi; signed that Olajengbesi was amongst the 42 persons cleared to contest the election whilst three persons were disqualified.
The September 30 NFF elections will see a new administration take over from the Amaju Pinnick era that has held sway over Nigeria football for about eight years.
Commenting on his clearance in a statement on Monday, Olajengbesi said his aspiration was directed toward ensuring a new legal framework for the organisation.
“My goal as an Executive Committee Member of the Nigeria Football Federation is simple and straight: To ensure a comprehensive and effective legal framework for the football body,” the lawyer said.
Olajengbesi, who has practice sports law to the level of Court Arbitration for Sports, Switzerland representing individuals and organisations is a sports enthusiast and football lover.
He has also consistently sponsored grassroots football tournaments in his Federal Constituency, Ijesa North Federal Constituency of Osun State in the South-West geopolitical zone.
