100 Inmates recaptured, Kyari in custody
- Updated: July 6, 2022

About 100 fleeing inmates from the Kuje Medium Custodial Centre in the Federal Capital Territory have been recaptured, Our Correspondence has learnt.
According to the Minister of Defence, Major General Bashir Magashi (retd.), Boko Haram terrorists who attacked the facility had freed 600 inmates, including 64 of their members held in the custody.
Our Correspondence had reported that 300 of them had been recaptured while efforts were on to bring back the others.
However, a prison source told our correspondent that about 100 more had been recaptured.
He said, “As you can observe yourself, vehicles have been coming in and going out of the custodial centre. Our men with the help of the military, police and vigilance group have been combing the bushes. They have made remarkable progress.
“We have recaptured about 100 of them, apart from those earlier captured, have been brought back. Also, nothing has happened to Abba Kyari as rumoured. He is safe in custody.”
