EFCC raids Abuja home of former SSS DG Ita Ekpeyong
- Updated: August 9, 2018

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC Today raided the home of the former DG of the State Security Service SSS, Ita Ekpeyong.
According to Premiumtimes, operatives of the anti-graft agency, stormed Ita’s residence located in Asokoro, at about 12noon with the permission of the acting President Yemi Osinbajo.
An attempt was previously made to search Ita’s home in November 2017 but Lawal Daura, who was on Tuesday, prevented the raid. This led to a stand-off that nearly turned fatal between SSS and EFCC operatives. The antigraft agency had linked Ekpeyong to the $2.1 billion arms deal and was intending to search Ekpeyong’s home in search evidence.
It was not immediately clear whether today’s raid at Mr Ekpeyong’s home, which government gave to him after his exit as DG of SSS, was a continuation of the failed search from last year.
