Abuja newspaper vendors association organise awards

The Newspapers Vendors Association of Nigeria, Abuja, has concluded plans to recognise individuals and organisations that have made an impact in the country.

It disclosed that the awards, which would climax the association’s annual ‘Vendors’ Press Week,’ would hold on July 26, 2018, at the National Press Centre, Radio House, Garki, Abuja.

The theme of the event is, ‘Nigeria’s democracy and today’s media practice.’

The Chairman of the association, Mr. Etim Iwara in a statement in Abuja on Friday, said the awards were meant to appreciate notable Nigerians and corporate organisations for their contributions to national and youth development.

Those nominated for the awards, he said, included state governors, senators, House of Representatives’ members, area council chairmen and others who have distinguished themselves in their careers and professions.

Iwara added, “The awardees were carefully selected by a team of seasoned journalists and heads of non-governmental organisations, those who have been keeping a tab on their contributions to national and human development.”
